Reading 'Parisian Chic. A Style Guide by Ines de la Fressange'

Metti un pomeriggio soleggiato, una passeggiata, e un bel libro tra le mani. Non sarà la perfezione, ma ti ritrovi a pensare che ti stai comunque godendo un “piccolo attimo di paradiso”. :)

In mia compagnia c’era La Parigina. Guida allo chic, libro scritto da Ines de la Fressange in collaborazione con Sophie Gachet. Per chi non lo conoscesse già, un bel manuale di sopravvivenza stilistica, con regole, spunti essenziali e consigli per valorizzare il proprio modo di vestire, arricchire il proprio guardaroba ed evitare i “fashion faux pas”!

Bellissime le foto di Nine, figlia della stessa Ines, che presentano i capi basici , ovvero iconici, del guardaroba della parigina doc. Devo spuntare qualche casella?

La giacca da uomo: celo!

Il trench: celo! (purtroppo non ancora quello di Burberry, ma intanto…!)

Il pull blu marine: mmm… manca! Da sempre fan del blu, ho avuto un maglione color del mare, poi infeltritosi durante un lavaggio. Mi sa che dovrò rimediare!

La canottiera: celo e ri-celo!!!

Il tubino nero: celo, ma in versione con le maniche! Vale lo stesso? Altrimenti mi vedo costretta a rimediare con dello shopping… ;)

I jeans: e chi non esclamerebbe “celo”??? Più che altro io porto solo jeans…

Il blouson di pelle: ne avevo uno, ma mi è venuto decisamente a noia. Dovrò meditare se dargli una seconda chanche...

Molto interessanti le dritte beauty, così come – per una come me, sempre più shopping-on-line-addicted – tutta la serie di web address da salvare e cliccare!!! ;)

Sintetico eppure ricco di spunti, il libro non è diverso – nei suoi diktat che si confermano dogmi universali dello stile e del buon gusto ­- da altre “guide stilistiche” che ho letto nel corso degli anni, ma di questa sto apprezzando soprattutto i capitoli con indirizzi e descrizioni dello shopping à Paris! Mi sa tanto che la prossima volta che torno nella ville lumière (e sarebbe davvero ora di tornarci…) lascio a casa la Lonely Planet e mi porto La Parigina! ;)

Let's consider: a sunny afternoon, a walk, and a good book in my hands. It is not the perfection, but you can certainly think that you are enjoying a "little bit of paradise." :)

I had brought with me Parisian Chic. A Style Guide by Ines de la Fressange, the fashion book that she wrote in collaboration with Sophie Gachet. For those who do not already know it, that’s a nice style survival guide with rules, tips and essential ideas to enhance your dress code, enrich your wardrobe and avoid the "fashion missteps"!

The beautiful photos of Nine – Ines’ daughter – show us basic (but iconic!) items of the wardrobe of the perfect Parisian. Have I to check some checkbox?

The trench: checked! (Unfortunately not yet a Burberry, but in the meantime mine could still be perfect for me...!)

Navy blue pull: mmm... is missing! I have always been a fan of blue color and I once had a sweater in this color, then it was ruined during washing. I guess I'll have to remedy, restoring a blue pull in my wardrobe!

The singlet: checked and checked again!!

The little black dress: checked, but in version with the sleeves! Could it be valid at the same time? Otherwise, I am obliged to remedy with shopping... ;)

Jeans: who does not exclaim "checked"?? Mostly I almost wear only jeans...

The leather jacket: I had one, but over time it has really bored me. I'll have to meditate if to give it a second chanche...

I believe that beauty tips are very interesting, as well as – for someone like me, more and more shopping-online-addicted – the entire series of web address to save and click!! ;)

Synthetic and easier to read, and yet full of ideas, the book is no different - in its rules which have become universal dogmas of style and good taste – from other "style guides" I've read over the years, but I appreciate this one especially for the chapters with addresses and descriptions of shopping in Paris!

So, I guess that next time I’ll return to the ville lumière (and it should be right time to go back there ...) I will leave home the Lonely Planet guide and I will bring Parisian Chic! ;)

P.S. Le avete riconosciute? Stavo indossando proprio le mie nuove sneakers borchiate! :) Perché, proprio come ci spiega Ines a pag. 14, la Parigina “si sente a suo agio [anche, aggiungo io!] con le scarpe da ginnastica”! ;)

P.S. Have you recognized it? I was just wearing my new studded sneakers! :) Just because, like Ines explains at page 14, the Parisian "feel at her ease [also, I might add!] with sneakers!"* ;)
